How current actually splits across the three phases at each measurement point, so you know whether unbalance is general, localised, or tied to the hour of day.

Unbalance costs twice

The Load Balancing module analyses how load distributes across phases over the chosen period. An uneven split heats conductors, reduces the transformer's usable capacity, and shows up as voltage unbalance downstream — which is what the Grid Code assesses.

The analysis runs per measurement point over a full period rather than an instantaneous reading, because the unbalance that matters is the one that persists.

Correcting unbalance is usually the cheapest measure available: it is reconnecting loads, not buying equipment.

What it reveals

  • Current distribution across the three phases
  • The magnitude of unbalance in the period
  • The overloaded phase and the phases with headroom
  • How unbalance behaves over time
  • Comparison across measurement points

How it is queried

Choose the period and the substation, and the analysis runs over that window's readings. Then you simulate: state how many amperes would move from one phase to another — up to four transfers at once — and the module computes the unbalance you would be left with, before touching a single cable.

  • Period: the historical window to analyse.
  • Substation: the measurement point evaluated.
  • Run: the analysis is launched with Select data.

What it enables

  • Identify which loads to reconnect and to which phase.
  • Recover usable transformer capacity without buying equipment.
  • Attack the cause of voltage unbalance before it becomes a regulatory finding.
  • Verify afterwards that the reconnection actually evened out the split.
